Political prisoners are in danger! Act Now!!

Since Sunday a group of nearly 50 inmates have been staging a fast in the Anuradhapura prison, in reaction to the terrible conditions and for the inhuman way they are being treated. The Sri Lankan Government after its genocide of May 2009, imprisoned more than 15 thousand Tamils as prisoners. No one knows where they are being kept and what happened and what is happening to them. Many of the inmates had been  slain. We also hear that female inmates are used as sexual slaves.

The conditions of these prisons remind us the prevailed conditions during Hitler’s holocaust. Within a small shell about 300 inmates are kept. They receive food, hardly sufficient enough for their survival.  They  wear the same cloth for months.

An inmate at Anuradhapura prison who wanted to remain anonymous informed the BBC that he sighted at least four dead bodies. The numbers varies from media to media. In one media an inmate cries, begging to help them to save their life.

Hospital authorities told BBC, one person was killed and 24 injured persons had been admitted to the hospital. While an inmate was speaking to the BBC  gun blasts heard in the midst of the talk. Police say they are yet to receive details of the incident.

All these atrocities are currently occurring in Anuradhapura the North Central part of Sri Lanka, where inmates have accused the prison authorities of murdering the protesting prisoners.

We all persisted in silence when Sri Lankan authorities committed a genocide by slaughtering more than 50 thousand innocent Tamils in a tiny area within three days.

The United Nations, International Criminal court, international non-governmental organisations, human right groups and so on are there.   Where are these institutions who pretend as protectors of the world and what are they doing?

Where is the world’s Justice system, Democracy and Fraternity?

Do they want us to stay quiet  until we are being killed?

“Nothing in the world is more dangerous than sincere ignorance and conscientious stupidity.”
