இலங்கையின் அநுராதபுரம் சிறைச்சாலையில் தமிழ் கைதிகள் அதிகாரிகளால் தாக்கப்படுவதாகக் கூறப்படும் சம்பவத்துக்கு எதிர்ப்பு தெரிவித்து இலங்கையின் அனைத்துச் சிறைகளிலும் உள்ள தமிழ் கைதிகள் அடையாள உண்ணாவிரதப் போராட்டம் ஒன்றை நடத்தியிருக்கிறார்கள்.
கைதிகளின் போராட்டங்களை இன மத வேறுபாடுகளுக்கு அப்பால் ஆதரிக்க வேண்டும் என உதுல் பிரேமரத்ன இனியொருவிற்குத் தெரிவித்தார்.

Complaint against the conduct of the Prison Superintandant of Anuradhapura Prison
I state that I am a practising lawyer and I have been in the practice since 1991
I state that on 28th November 2011 I went to Anuradhapura Prison to have a consultation with the following clients in respect of their pending cases.
Umar katha
Alakan sivkumar
Aruthumar
hari karan
sathiyalingam
I state that one of Junior Lawyers Mr. H.W.U.Premaratne also joined me and we were asked to submit names of my clients.
Thereafter prison officers went to the prison to facilitate us to meet them.
I state that thereafter we had been waiting outside for more than one hour. Since no response from the officers we inquired about the delay.
Thereafter one officer came and said our clients were involving a demonstration and thus they cannot come out. We have told them it is very important them to meet us today and if they are not denying to meet us why officers could not bring these clients out.
Subsequently the said officer again went inside and came out with a different version namely due to an order from the administration we cannot be allowed to meet the clients causing severe problems to my clients.
I state that with great respect as a lawyer I have a right to meet my clients and the administration of the prison cannot deprive that right without proper and sound reason.
I was informed several of my clients that they were assaulted by some officers and thus I verily believe my clients’ are under life threat inside the prison.
In the circumstances I herewith complain about the wrongful conduct of the Superintendent of Prison in Anuradhapura and Your Ladyship be pleased to inquire on this matter and direct the necessary parties to take appropriate action against the wrong doers in order to preserve the rights of the lawyers and general public.

පහර කෑමට ලක් වූ, අනුරාධපුර බන්ධනාගාරයේ දේශපාලන සිරකරුවන් හමුවීමට නීතිඥවරුන්ට අවස්ථාව ලබානොදීම පිළිබඳව අගවිනිසුරුතුමියට පැමිණිලි කිරීම
පසුගිය 27 වනදා අනුරාධපුර බන්ධනාගාරයේ දෙමළ දේශපාලන සිරකරුවන්ට එහි බන්ධනාගාර නිලධාරීන් පහරදීමෙන් පසුව ඔවුන් බැලීම සඳහා 28 වනදා යන ලද නීතිඥවරුන්ට ඒ සඳහා අවස්ථාව නොදීම පිළිබඳව අද, එම අවස්ථාවට සහභාගී වූ ජ්යේෂ්ට නීතිඥ ඩබ්.පී. සිත්තම්පලම් මහතා විසින් අගවිනිසුරුවරියට ලිපියක් මගින් පැමිණිල්ලක් ඉදිරිපත් කරන ලදී.
එම ලිපිය මේ සමග අමුණා ඇත.
එසේම මේ වනවිට බන්ධනාගාර නිලධාරීන් කළ මෙම පහරදීමේ සිදුවීම විකෘති කරමින්, එහි වරද සිරකරුවන් මත පැටවීමට ද බලධාරීන් උත්සාහ කරමින් සිටී. එසේම අනුරාධපුර බන්ධනාගාරයේ උක්ත පහරදීම හා නිතීඥවරුන්ට ඔවුන්ව බැලීමට අවස්ථාව නොදීමට විරෝධය පල කරමින් අනුරාධපුරය, වවිනියාව, වැලිකඩ යන බන්ධනාගාරවල සිරකරුවන් 880 දෙනෙකු පමණ ඊයේ සිට ආහාර වර්ජනයක ද නිරිතව සිටී.
එම නිසා තවදුරටත් උක්ත දේශපාලන සිරකරුවන්ගේ අයිතිවාසිකම් උල්ලංඝණය නොකර, ඔවුන්ගේ සාධාරණ ඉල්ලීම් ලබාදෙන ලෙස අප බලධාරීන්ට අවධාරණය කරමු.
